A few months ago, we faced a challenge with one of our clients. They had important information (logins, passwords, keys, certificates, ..), historically scattered across various digital environments and tools. If you are long enough in IT, you know this is not so uncommon. This situation was not only a potential security risk but also made the work of their developers more complicated than it needed to be. It was clear that we needed to simplify things.
At vBridge Cloud, we welcomed this opportunity to introduce a powerful feature of Google Cloud. The idea is simple: we gathered all these secrets and placed them in one secure location, a tool called Secret Manager. This was no small task, because many references had to change too, but it was necessary to ensure the highest level of security and to make the developers’ work more straightforward.
Accessing a specific version of a secret is easy, and rotating keys now becomes much easier than it was before.
But we didn’t stop there. We automated the entire process, enabling developers to manage all these secrets across all locations with just a single click. This not only made their work more efficient but also reduced the risk of errors.
The outcome? A safer, more efficient, and user-friendly system for our client. We’re proud of what we’ve achieved with this client and are excited about tackling the next challenge.
